Although I have not been able to see the two games you Trojans have played and won I know the players are doing a wonderful job and I look forward to coming to Columbia for the first home game. Way to go Trojans and keep killing the game……….

July 1st, 2009A letter FOR my brothers from Craig Mullins
June 30th, 2009I gotta wonder what the rest of the interstate travelers thought this Saturday as our convoy of cars headed out of Columbia toward Kansas City – especially with Coach racing along out front doing 95 mph as the heat shimmered off the silver Charger. Trojan players, family and fans headed to show the Shockers what we were made of and - WOW! - did we get it done!!
Despite the less than ideal conditions, we displayed some real skill and athleticism on the field. Just a few of those highlights include our acrobatic tailback Allen Williams hurtling a tackle for a fist down, DeMond Thorpe’s numerous catches for significant yardage, major gain on the ground by James Dudley, Jason Simpson’s amazing interception for a touchdown (not to mention all the field he ate up with his kick off returns), and a 50+ yard pass by Jason Sutherland to Howard Bouldin for the touchdown that sealed the win!
Behind after the first half, the Trojans once again showed me their ability to think like a team and pull together like a family and came back in the second half to prove we belong in this league – and just might rule over it before this season is over!! Coach JD Franklin’s halftime pep talk got our heads back in the game. Seeing the faces of our teammates as we huddled together during that speech got our hearts back in the game.
We have a couple weekends off to start July, but we’ll be back out in full force for our first home game on the 18th. Look out, Bridge City Knights, we intend to show you the unstoppable force of the Columbia Trojans!
Who are we? TROJANS!
P.S. At least the other traveler’s didn’t have to smell us on the way home Satuday night…
Letter To My Brothers from Craig Mullins
June 23rd, 2009I am taking a time out to congratulate all the Columbia Trojans on our win in Nebraska on the 13th!
On the bus ride, starting off, I knew little about my fellow Trojans and I felt by the time we returned, we had become a family.
Being the football nut that I am, I feel privileged to be a part of this organization and I am proud of our progress and the ability we have displayed. We came to the field as individuals and left as a team – a WINNING TEAM!!
I look forward to playing against the Kansas City Shockers on the 27th and our continued growth as a team and as a family.
Look out Shockers – the Trojans are coming to get you!
Who are we? TROJANS!!
P.S. I ‘d also like to thank everybody who showed up to walk with us for the Relay for Life. That was an excellent opportunity for us to be supporters of our community and I am proud of the way the Trojans represented!
The World’s Most Interesting Man
June 15th, 2009I’m not sure how many of you have seen or heard of the Dos Equis commercials. They have a segment on the world’s most interesting man. On our trip to Nebraska to play the Renegades a few of our players (Sherm, Chris, and myself) had the experience of hanging out with the guy that they are actually talking about. That man is our very own Jason Sutherland. This had to be the most interesting and entertaing 6 hour drive of our lives. We got the chance to hear about some of the amazing events in his life and almost felt like celebrities in his presence. I know that I now see the world in an entirely new light thanks to this experience. If you ever get the chance to do so try your darndest to spend a little time with the guy! I’m sure we won’t get the experience again seeing as those he was probably wierded out by us. One of us is afraid of everything, the other injury prone and hates bananas and the other one is just nuts! Once again try your best to spend some time with the Worlds most interesting man! And another thing that we found out is that he actually lives vicariously through himself.
